Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
This policy covers the Adventist Ewe Hymnal website, the web hymnal reader, and the mobile app. We collect as little as we can to run this project.
What we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to send us.
- Messages you send us: your name, email address, message and topic, plus your browser or device type, which your browser sends automatically.
- App feedback: the rating, tags or comment you add when you rate the mobile app. Your name and email are optional.
- Notification tokens: if you turn on notifications in the mobile app, we store your device’s anonymous token, its type (iPhone or Android) and the app version. A token identifies a device, not a person, and gives us no access to anything else on it.
What stays on your device
Your favourites, reading position, theme choice, chosen collection, and downloaded hymn data are stored on your own device and are never sent to us. Clearing the app data or your browser storage removes them permanently, and we have no copy to restore.
Counting visits
We count page visits with Umami, which runs on a server we control. It records the page, the referring site, and rough details like country, browser and screen size. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and cannot recognise you across visits.
This tells us which pages are read. It cannot tell us who you are.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels, and we send nothing to third-party analytics services.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing.
- We do not build profiles of readers or record which hymns any individual reads.
- We do not require an account.
How long we keep it
Messages and feedback are kept for about two years so we can follow up on hymn corrections and reported problems. After that they are deleted, except where we need to keep something for future reference.
If you turn notifications off, we mark your token inactive straight away and stop sending to it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we will reply within 30 days.
Children
The hymnal is suitable for all ages, but the contact form is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the mobile app.
